If you already have an active copper phone line, you won't need to install anything to take up the Ultimate Voice home phone plan.
If you don't have a copper line at your address, you may need a technician to connect you. We'll let you know once we have your details.
Once you take up a phone line service on the nbn network, you can’t move back to Telstra services on the existing copper network unless you’re in an nbn Fixed Wireless area.

You'll still be able to make calls normally through your phone, but you'll need to plug it into the back of your modem, not the wall. The calls will connect via the nbn network.
When there is a power failure, your home phone may not work because the nbn network needs power. But it WILL work if you have:
- A Fixed Wireless connection and have chosen to retain your existing copper phone line, or
- Fibre to the Premises with a battery back-up unit, which maintains power to the nbn network.

In most areas, Telstra’s fixed phone network will be replaced by the nbn network.
If you live in an area where the fixed nbn network is rolled out and you still want a home phone, you’ll need to connect to the nbn network.

It's a free service to provide access to 24/7 fault support, and prioritised fault and connection callouts. repairs, as well as connections. Eligible customers will receive a free Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) and Telstra Smart Modem on nbn.

All our phone inclusions come at no extra cost, whether it's the basic phone plan like Ultimate Voice or one of our internet plans. We don't offer any plans without them. Whether you make use of the inclusions is up to you.

Your home phone number will stay the same. However once you switch to the nbn any landlines you do have won't work. That's why all our nbn plans come with a phone line at no extra cost. Your new phone line will run over your nbn connection, through your Telstra Smart Modem.

Yes, once you choose the Ultimate Voice no lock-in contract plan, any previous contract you have will end. If you have a contract with another provider, we'll take care of it for you. However you should check first in case your provider has any early termination charges.

The Home Phone Calls Safety Net caps your monthly bill at $150 per month for local, national, Australian mobile and 13 calls over your plan allowance. All other call types, including International Direct calls are excluded from the Home Phone Calls Safety Net.
