Try these troubleshooting steps

  1. Check there are no phone outages in your area
  2. Properly hang up all your phone handsets
  3. Make sure your phone cable is plugged into your modem or nbn Connection Box.
    Important: It should NOT be plugged into a wall phone socket unless you’re a Fixed Wireless customer with a landline connected to the copper network
  4. Ensure both ends of the phone cable are securely connected
  5. Check that your nbn Connection Box, modem and phone all have power
  6. Try to call using another handset. If you can get through, the problem is likely to be with your original phone.
If you’re still having trouble, try restarting your modem and nbn connection box.

Restart your modem

  1. Turn off your modem using the ‘Power’ button
  2. Wait 20 seconds then turn the modem back on
  3. Wait for the ‘Internet’ light to go solid green (this could take 1 – 2 minutes)
  4. Wait for the ‘Voice’ or ‘Phone’ light to go solid green (this could take another 1 – 2 minutes)
  5. Try to make a call.

Restart your nbn Connection Box
