Our Pre-Paid plans and prices are changing

Our Pre-Paid Mobile plan prices are increasing, and some plan inclusions are changing from 4 July 2023.

What’s happening?

As of 4 July 2023, the prices of our Pre-Paid Mobile plans will increase, and some plan inclusions will change. We’re increasing the prices of our Pre-Paid plans to help us continue investing in the things that matter like our mobile network, products and services. We know any price rise is hard and it's not a decision we've taken lightly.

The changes to your plan will only come into effect when you recharge for the first time on or after 4 July 2023. Learn more about what’s changing with our Pre-Paid Mobile plan below.

What’s changing with our recharges?

    • New recharge - $12
    • Data - 2GB changed to 3GB


    What stays the same

    • 7 days expiry.
    • Data allowance for use in Australia.
    • Download speeds will be capped at 150mbps on our 4G and 5G network. Typical speeds will be slower and will vary due to various factors. Great for most customers' regular usage including streaming, browsing and social media.
    • All other plan inclusions.

    • New recharge - $35
    • Data - 10GB changed to 15GB


    What stays the same

    • 28 days expiry.
    • Data allowance for use in Australia.

What happens if I have auto recharge enabled?

Your auto recharge will stay enabled, and you’ll automatically be charged the new amount for your first recharge on or after 4 July 2023. 

We’re also making some changes to our auto recharge terms and conditions. These changes to the terms mean that the amount we deduct from your payment method for your auto recharge will change in line with changes to our Pre-Paid pricing. We've also included the right to cancel your auto recharge if your Pre-Paid service is cancelled by us in accordance with our customer terms. If these changes don’t work for you, you can cancel your auto recharge. Please note if your next scheduled recharge is less than 48 hours away, you'll continue to be charged the auto recharge amount.

Frequently asked questions

  • From 4 July 2023, vouchers available for purchase will be changing to align to our new plan prices. If you've previously purchased a voucher at an old recharge value, you can still redeem it. This applies to vouchers purchased online and in-store.

  • You can view your plan details in the My Telstra app:

    1. Go to Services;
    2. Select the service you'd like to view;
    3. Select View or manage your plan to see your plan details.
  • Yes, you can recharge to a different amount through our online recharge page, the My Telstra app and in-store.

    If you recharge before expiry, you’ll still have access to your previous recharge inclusions, up to the original expiry date. Depending on which Pre-Paid plan you’re on, your unused data may roll over for use with your new recharge.

  • You don’t need to do anything. The changes will come into effect when you recharge for the first time on or after 4 July 2023.

  • Speed capping

    Your capped download speed is the maximum potential download speed for data included in your recharge. Typical speeds may often be slower and will vary due to factors including location, distance from the base station, local conditions, concurrent users, hardware and software configuration and download/upload destination. Telstra 5G now reaches 80% of Australians.     Telstra Pre-Paid Mobile

    Unlimited calls/texts exclude satellite and premium numbers (e.g. 19xx numbers), operator assisted calls (e.g. most 12xx numbers) and diverted calls. Recharge $12-$65 before expiry to rollover up to 200GB of your unused data allowance to use in your next recharge. Your unused data will expire if you don’t recharge on eligible recharges before expiry. For use in Australia.

    Telstra Pre-Paid mobile devices

    Unlocking fee may apply for use with a non-Telstra SIM card. See more unlocking information. Limit 1 per customer and no trade sales. Blue Tick lets you know which phones are recommended for handheld coverage in rural areas.
