Before you begin:

  • you’ll need a Telstra ID
  • you must be the Account holder
  • you must have an active recharge
  • your current recharge must not be expiring in the next 24 hours. If it’s due to expire, complete your next recharge and then follow the instructions to set up auto recharge online. The auto recharge setup option is at the end of the flow.

Set up auto recharge

  • In the My Telstra app

    1. Sign in to the My Telstra app using your Telstra ID
    2. Go to Services
    3. Select your Pre-Paid service and scroll down to More with your mobile
    4. Select Auto recharge and follow the prompts.

    1. Sign in to My Telstra using your Telstra ID
    2. On the homepage, go to Account overview and find your Pre-Paid service
    3. Select Auto recharge: On/Off and follow the prompts.
  • If you get the error ‘Auto recharge unavailable’ when you’re setting up auto recharge, it may be because:

    • you’re not the Account holder
    • you don’t have an active recharge
    • your current recharge is expiring within the next 24 hours.

    Before trying again, make sure:

    • the Account holder sets up auto recharge
    • you’ve got an active recharge, if you don’t, recharge your service first
    • your recharge is not due to expire within 24 hours.

Manage auto recharge

  • If you’ve recently set up auto recharge, you should allow one hour before checking it’s active.

    In the My Telstra app

    1. Sign in to the My Telstra app using your Telstra ID
    2. Go to Services summary
    3. Select your Pre-Paid service and scroll down to More with your mobile
    4. Your auto recharge status will say Auto recharge: Off/On.

    1. Sign in to My Telstra using your Telstra ID
    2. Go to Account overview and your auto recharge status will be next to your Pre-Paid service.
  • You can only update your auto recharge details if your next scheduled recharge is more than 24 hours away. 

    To update your auto recharge payment details:

    1. Cancel your existing auto recharge, then
    2. Set up a new auto recharge with your preferred payment method.

    In the My Telstra app

    1. Sign in to the My Telstra app using your Telstra ID
    2. Go to Services 
    3. Select your Pre-Paid service and scroll down to More with your mobile
    4. Select Auto recharge and follow the prompts.

    In My Telstra

    1. Sign in to My Telstra using your Telstra ID
    2. If you’ve got more than one account, select your Pre-Paid service from the list
    3. Select Auto recharge and follow the prompts.
